Product Description

JVCC NS-2A Premium Non-Skid Tape is a premium 32 mil 60 grit silicone carbide high traction, anti-slip tape. This non-skid tape has a waterproof backing and is coated with an aggressive acrylic adhesive (more permanent than a synthetic rubber adhesive). JVCC Non-Skid Tape is used indoors or out on stairs, pool areas, ramps, work areas, skateboards, and garage steps. The 60 grit silicone carbide surface is similar in feel to 60 grit sandpaper, therefore, it is not appropriate for bare feet. NS-2A complies with OSHA 1910.263(3). Also please note the semi-transparent/translucent color is only partially transparent while the white color is completely opaque. For bare feet please see a rubberized non-skid tape like the ISC 3500 Jessup Safety Track. JVCC NS-2A is not coated with an adhesive that can be submerged or put underwater. So if when applied there is any gaping which would allow water to seep underneath to the underside of the tape water would degrade the adhesive pretty quickly. Also the substrate it is applied to must be dry, in good condition, and free of any debris when the tape is applied so the adhesive bond can form correctly.

QUESTION: I’ll be using this on a door/ramp to a cargo trailer. This is an unfinished wood surface and it’s cold here in Montana right now. Does the wood need some kind of treatment before application and if so what? I’m hoping it doesn’t need something that requires a warm environment to cure because that’s not possible right now. Also, what is the minimum temperature required for the tape to adhere? Thanks so much!
ANSWER: Yes, adhesive tape products like this really only adhere well to wood surfaces if they are sealed well - need to create a more unified surface that is not as porous.

Great Product
JVCC NS-2A Premium Non-Skid Tape [60 grit]
I purchased this tape for my Dad's ramp. I got it in January but was afraid to put it on at that time. I waited until the latter part of April to put it on his ramp. Then I waited an additional 3 weeks before writing a review. I did the install when the temperature was about 72. I washed down each step and let them dry off. Then I cut the strips and installed on the treads as I went up the ramp. I made a mark in the middle and just eyeballed each step from there. I was pleasantly surprised how the tape stuck. Make sure you have it where you want it when you put it down. I also used a roller like you use on wallpaper over each piece before moving on. I am very happy with the result and so is my Dad. Just to add to this, I got advice from a neighbor that has had the same tape on his steps for 2 1/2 years without even one coming loose. I figured if his worked that well, I would be safe using this tape. I am glad that I did and would not hesitate to use it again in the future.

I am using this product on a ramp built for my aunt. The stuff is sticky but I also stapled it down. Only time will tell how well it will stand up to mother nature. I am hoping for 3 seasons but will be happy with 2.

Just what we were looking for

We've only used this product for a short while, but so far, it's fitting the bill. It saves us time and labor which equals money!
Made in the USA
hot melt rubber (synthetic)
Offers the widest range of application flexibility available. Exhibits excellent processing performance whether manually or automatically applied. Has superior tensile strength, adhesion properties and holding force which ensures consistent, reliable seals. Hot melt adhesive will bond faster to a surface which is referred to as quick-grab or quick-stick. It typically has higher tack (will feel stickier to the touch), but is also softer. It has lower heat resistance, shear resistance, and sometimes UV resistance than an acrylic adhesive. NOTE: it is called hot melt because the adhesive is applied hot by the manufacturer and then hardens as it cools (you do not need to apply heat to the tape yourself).
natural rubber
Properties are similar to that of hot melt rubber, but natural rubber often holds where other adhesives won't (recycled fibers, dust, cold, heat and heavy loads). It provides good overall adhesion and moisture resistance.
acrylic
Offer excellent performance, especially for applications in temperatures less than 40°F and greater then 120°F. It provides excellent clarity, has high shear strength, is usually more permanent/durable even when exposed to moisture, and it ages well over extended periods in fluorescent and sunlight. Since it remains clear for the life of the application and does not yellow over time it is ideal for applications such as sealing white cartons. While it has good initial adhesion it does take 24-48 hours to cure and to achieve its maximum bond strength (has gradual adhesion buildup). Another difference between hot melt rubber and acrylic adhesive is if you fold tape over making the two adhesive sides touch the acrylic adhesive will remain attached to the carrier (e.g. paper, film) while a hot melt adhesive will stick to itself and pull off of the carrier. It is the best choice for clarity, UV resistance and aging characteristics.

Is great for extreme temperature applications since silicone adhesive can work in continuous operating temperatures from -100°F to 500°F. They also exhibit good chemical resistance, retain electrical properties, and remove cleanly with little or no residue.
zinc oxide
Zinc oxide based adhesive formula is a skin-friendly adhesive which is commonly used on sports medicine tapes.
Thickness, AKA caliper or gauge, refers to the distance from one surface of a tape backing, or adhesive, to the other.
1 mil = 1/1000 of an inch
Examples: 1/16 inch = 62.5 mils; 1/32 inch = 31.25 mils
The cut level indicates how many grams of cutting load a glove can withstand from a sharp blade before being penetrated.
Lower gauge gloves are heavier - have thicker construction, fewer stiches knitted per inch and offer less dexterity.
Higher gauge gloves are lighter - have thinner/finer construction, more stitches knitted per inch and offer more dexterity.
Gloves offered typically runs from 7 to 18 (12 and 13 are in the middle of the scale).
