  • The ultra-high bond or UHB double sided tape and the very-high bond or 3M branded VHB double sided tape are double sided tapes that have a very strong adhesive. Some of the uses for these tapes include attaching automotive interior and exterior trim on vehicles and for replacing rivets and spot welds. If you need to create a strong, permanent bond between two substrates these are the tapes to look at.
    • 3M Scotch 4298 Adhesion Promoter (Sponge Applicator Packet)

      3M 4298 Adhesion Promoter is a liquid primer used for most low surfaces energy plastics. This would include common low surface energy plastics used for automotive dash and interior trim applications (TPO, PPO, PP, PC, PC and ABS, etc.). It is specifically formulated to be used with 3M Acrylic Foam Tapes. Since formulations and surface energies can vary for these types of materials, each application should be verified through testing. This adhesion promoter is supplied in an easy-to-use sponge applicator packet. 3M 4298 Application Procedure: the liquid contents of the packet should be completely used as soon as possible after opening. Hold packet upright and avoid squeezing an opened packet to prevent spillage of liquid contents. The packet can be opened by tearing across the top of the packet at the notches. This will expose the sponge applicator. Do not remove the sponge or squeeze a freshly opened packet. Handling the bottom section of the packet should enable application of 3M adhesion promoter 4298 with no mess. Apply a thin, uniform coating to the bonding surface, using the minimum amount that will fully coat the surface. A wet coating thickness of 0.002 inch or less is recommended. Apply promoter only to areas that will be fully covered with tape. Although drying times may vary due to temperature and/or humidity, a drying time of 30 to 90 seconds is typically indicative of this thickness. The primer should be dry before applying tape. For best results, apply tape immediately after primer application or no more than one hour afterwards. Be sure the primed surface remains free from contaminants prior to tape application.

    • 3M Scotch 5952 VHB Tape (heavy duty mounting)

      3M 5952 Heavy Duty Mounting VHB Tape is black, double-coated VHB adhesive tape with an acrylic foam core. A modified acrylic adhesive is on both sides of very conformable foam which provides adhesion to the broadest range of substrates/surfaces, including most powder coated paints.       3M 4905 VHB Tape is excellent for applications where an aggressive double-sided clear or colorless tape is desired. The general purpose adhesive on both sides is suitable for high surface energy substrates including metal, glass and high surface energy plastics.       JVCC UHB45FA-G Ultra High Bond Double Coated Tape is constructed of a grey foamed acrylic system which has excellent all around bonding properties which allows for very high performance in the most demanding of applications. Ideal for structural bonding applications in the transportation industry.       3M 06376 Automotive Attachment Tape is a .030-inch (30 mil) thick, OEM-approved acrylic foam with high performance acrylic adhesives on both sides. It has good peel and shear adhesion, good internal strength, good conformability and good plasticizer resistance. Typical applications on cars would include the attachment of wheel lip molding, door edge molding, badges, nameplates, emblems and other lightweight body side molding and trim. Not recommended for medium- to heavy-weight trim.

      3M 4941 VHB Tape utilizes multi-purpose acrylic adhesive on both sides of conformable foam. The adhesive provides excellent adhesion to a broad range of high and medium surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and a wide variety of plastics, as well as plasticized vinyl. The conformable foam provides good contact, even with mismatched substrates.
