Product Description

Scapa Polyflex 136 Polyethylene Film Tape is a heavy-duty polyethylene backed, single coated tape with a synthetic rubber adhesive. It is used for convention center floor marking, surface protection, wire identification, seaming/splicing of polyethylene sheeting and general purpose holding. If you are looking for a more adhesive tape (compared to a lower adhesive vinyl tape like JVCC V36-P) to permanently repair non-textured, flat mats this is a good choice (see JVCC WMT-7 for temporarily seaming wrestling mats). It is also used in the boating and RV industry for taping seams and patching holes in poly sheeting and on vinyl pool liners. Unlike a vinyl floor marking tape a polyethylene tape like 136 will not stretch or break if laying across a large area like a convention center floor. Scapa Polyflex 136 features include a tacky adhesive which bonds well to most surfaces over a wide temperature range; excellent low-temperature bonding; product is very conformable; it maintains a watertight seal in most weather conditions; good tear characteristics; and a low residue adhesive. This tape does not have UV inhibitors. Scapa 136 is not opaque, but is semi-transparent or translucent. Country of Origin: Canada.

QUESTION: Will this tape take paint off a wall. I'd like to use it for taping poly to walls for dust protection in a hospital
ANSWER: Yes, Scapa 136 could potentially remove paint from a wall. That product is not designed to be easily removable like a blue painter’s tape for instance. Can see Nashua CleanDrape (https://www.findtape.com/p664/?tid=30) for one alternative option. Thank you.

QUESTION: I want this to put over my 2017 Silverado LED front daytime running lights . Will this tape allow some of the light to show through? the bright white lights are too overwhelming ....I want to subdue the light, not completely block it from coming through.
ANSWER: Scapa 136 is coated with a rubber adhesive so wouldn’t provide much resistance to moisture or temperature so not sure how long it would stay on for you. May want to look at Canetch 781 which is an automotive lens tape – see online at https://www.findtape.com/p999/. Thank you.

QUESTION: Can the black tape be used to give a lens a smoked look?
ANSWER: Scapa 136 is not completely opaque, but I don't believe it is transparent enough to be used like that.

Customer Jun 24, 2017
QUESTION: Will this tape work underwater?
ANSWER: No, if submerged water would invariably come into contact with the adhesive side of the tape by coming through any gaping that existed between the tape and substrate it was applied to - that would deaden the adhesive pretty quickly unfortunately.

Best tape out there
Scapa 136 Polyethylene Film Tape
Saw this tape in use for sealing up mobile homes with plastic during transport. It’s not cheap but nothing sticks as good to so many surfaces including poly sheeting. It’s slightly stretchy to wrap tight too. We now use if for joining hoses for an insulation machine.

great for pool liners
Scapa 136 Polyethylene Film Tape
Used to buy cases of duct tape to install vinyl pool liners. Got tired of cleaning the residue off the liner. Found this tape and may never use duct tape again. Excellent performance. Perfect amount of adhesion. We were even able to stick it to a liner completely under water pull a wrinkle out peel the tape and reuse the same piece two more times. And virtually no more residue.

Good Deal !!!
Scapa 136 Polyethylene Film Tape
I haven't used it on the moisture barrier yet. However, as soon as it arrived, I cut off a large piece and stuck it to the exposed brick on the outside of my home and left it for about ten days (Dec. Weather) to see how well it would hold up. After time passed, I pulled it off the brick with some effort so it seems as though it's going to work well in the crawl space under my home. Bought enought to do both houses and the price was great. No problems with the shipping either. Impressed enough that I passed this site on to friends whom own their own bussinesses and family as well.
Made in the USA
hot melt rubber (synthetic)
Offers the widest range of application flexibility available. Exhibits excellent processing performance whether manually or automatically applied. Has superior tensile strength, adhesion properties and holding force which ensures consistent, reliable seals. Hot melt adhesive will bond faster to a surface which is referred to as quick-grab or quick-stick. It typically has higher tack (will feel stickier to the touch), but is also softer. It has lower heat resistance, shear resistance, and sometimes UV resistance than an acrylic adhesive. NOTE: it is called hot melt because the adhesive is applied hot by the manufacturer and then hardens as it cools (you do not need to apply heat to the tape yourself).
natural rubber
Properties are similar to that of hot melt rubber, but natural rubber often holds where other adhesives won't (recycled fibers, dust, cold, heat and heavy loads). It provides good overall adhesion and moisture resistance.
acrylic
Offer excellent performance, especially for applications in temperatures less than 40°F and greater then 120°F. It provides excellent clarity, has high shear strength, is usually more permanent/durable even when exposed to moisture, and it ages well over extended periods in fluorescent and sunlight. Since it remains clear for the life of the application and does not yellow over time it is ideal for applications such as sealing white cartons. While it has good initial adhesion it does take 24-48 hours to cure and to achieve its maximum bond strength (has gradual adhesion buildup). Another difference between hot melt rubber and acrylic adhesive is if you fold tape over making the two adhesive sides touch the acrylic adhesive will remain attached to the carrier (e.g. paper, film) while a hot melt adhesive will stick to itself and pull off of the carrier. It is the best choice for clarity, UV resistance and aging characteristics.
silicone
Is great for extreme temperature applications since silicone adhesive can work in continuous operating temperatures from -100°F to 500°F. They also exhibit good chemical resistance, retain electrical properties, and remove cleanly with little or no residue.
zinc oxide
Zinc oxide based adhesive formula is a skin-friendly adhesive which is commonly used on sports medicine tapes.
Thickness, AKA caliper or gauge, refers to the distance from one surface of a tape backing, or adhesive, to the other.
1 mil = 1/1000 of an inch
Examples: 1/16 inch = 62.5 mils; 1/32 inch = 31.25 mils
The cut level indicates how many grams of cutting load a glove can withstand from a sharp blade before being penetrated.
Lower gauge gloves are heavier - have thicker construction, fewer stiches knitted per inch and offer less dexterity.
Higher gauge gloves are lighter - have thinner/finer construction, more stitches knitted per inch and offer more dexterity.
Gloves offered typically runs from 7 to 18 (12 and 13 are in the middle of the scale).
