Product Description

JVCC MPF-01 Metalized Polyester Film Tape is a metalized (aluminized) polyester mylar film with a brilliant, vibrant mirror-like finish; coated with an aggressive long-lasting clear acrylic adhesive system. Tapes have excellent chemical and thermal stability. Silver can be qualified to meet Federal Specification #L-T-100B, Type II. Gold is PVC-free and can be laser cut. Also for a slightly thicker version of silver metalized polyester film on a release liner please see JVCC Dry Erase tape.

Metalized Polyester Film Tape is used for reflective shielding; industrial & graphic art applications; decorative trim, nameplates, electric appliances, and advertising displays. It is also suitable for micro film splicing and can be used in photo sensing applications to detect spices and to facilitate roll changeovers (should test first). The tape is self-wound (no release liner) and all colors of MPF-01 are silver on the exposed adhesive-side of the tape. JVCC MPF-01 complies with the European RoHS 2002/95/EU, 2011/65/EU directives.

The colors green and blue have been discontinued in this tape and no inventory now remains.

QUESTION: Is this tape conductive?
ANSWER: No, it is not conductie. The only tape we have like that would be JVCC CFL-5CA which is copper foil. Thank you,

QUESTION: Could this be applied to a wood vent hood cover for accent trim?
ANSWER: JVCC MPF-01 is an extremely thin tape (only 2.1 mils thick) and wrinkles easily so would have to handle very carefully when applied. It does handle temperatures up to 300F that that should not be an issue. Thank you.

QUESTION: I am looking for 1/8" tape, which you do not have. Is it possible to cut the 1/4" in half?
ANSWER: The narrowest JVCC can cut MPF-01 to would be ¼”. For narrower tape such as 1/8” tape can see 3M Scotchcal striping tape at https://www.findtape.com/p554. Thank you.

QUESTION: Can I use it to pinstripe a car or airplane?
ANSWER: No, this tape would not hold up for very long outside on an automobile (since it is extremely thin it could also tear easily). You would want a tape made specifically for car pinstriping such as the 3M Scotchcal product line. Thank you.

QUESTION: Can I use it on a bathroom faucet?
ANSWER: Since the tape won't stick well if it gets wet, I would not recommend for a bathroom faucet.

I never write reviews but honestly I love this tape! So much so, I’ve purchased 3 rolls. It’s versatile and adds a cool look to whatever you use it on. I am a big fan:).
Made in the USA
hot melt rubber (synthetic)
Offers the widest range of application flexibility available. Exhibits excellent processing performance whether manually or automatically applied. Has superior tensile strength, adhesion properties and holding force which ensures consistent, reliable seals. Hot melt adhesive will bond faster to a surface which is referred to as quick-grab or quick-stick. It typically has higher tack (will feel stickier to the touch), but is also softer. It has lower heat resistance, shear resistance, and sometimes UV resistance than an acrylic adhesive. NOTE: it is called hot melt because the adhesive is applied hot by the manufacturer and then hardens as it cools (you do not need to apply heat to the tape yourself).
natural rubber
Properties are similar to that of hot melt rubber, but natural rubber often holds where other adhesives won't (recycled fibers, dust, cold, heat and heavy loads). It provides good overall adhesion and moisture resistance.
acrylic
Offer excellent performance, especially for applications in temperatures less than 40°F and greater then 120°F. It provides excellent clarity, has high shear strength, is usually more permanent/durable even when exposed to moisture, and it ages well over extended periods in fluorescent and sunlight. Since it remains clear for the life of the application and does not yellow over time it is ideal for applications such as sealing white cartons. While it has good initial adhesion it does take 24-48 hours to cure and to achieve its maximum bond strength (has gradual adhesion buildup). Another difference between hot melt rubber and acrylic adhesive is if you fold tape over making the two adhesive sides touch the acrylic adhesive will remain attached to the carrier (e.g. paper, film) while a hot melt adhesive will stick to itself and pull off of the carrier. It is the best choice for clarity, UV resistance and aging characteristics.
