Product Description
The Excell EX-17 Steel Desktop Tape Dispenser is an industrial grade steel desk tape dispenser. It features a durable and rust-proof serrated blade and is able to cut through tape up to 3 mils thick. Includes a safety guard over the serrated blade which can easily be pushed back when you’re ready to cut your tape. The sturdy metal construction and suction cup base make this heavy duty dispenser the perfect addition to your desktop.
This dispenser is made for 3-inch diameter core tape. It can hold up to a 5-inch outside roll diameter, so it's ideal for office supply tapes like JVCC CELLO-1 and film carton sealing packaging tapes like Shurtape HP-500. This steel tape dispenser also fits artist/console tape such as JVCC ART-11. However, full-length cloth tapes like spike and gaffers tapes will be too large to fit this dispenser.

Dispenser Sizes
- The 2-inch Excell EX-17 dispenser comes with two 1-inch wide rollers so you can use the dispenser for one 2-inch wide roll or two individual 1-inch wide tape rolls.
- The 3-inch Excell EX-17 dispenser comes with three 1-inch wide rollers so you can use the dispenser for one 3-inch wide roll or three individual 1-inch wide tape rolls or one 2-inch wide roll and one 1-inch wide roll. The approximate dimensions of the 3-inch dispenser are 3-7/8 inches wide by 9 inches long by 4 inches high.

QUESTION: is there a way for me to order the little suction cup feet replacements?
ANSWER: Our Excel distributor doesn’t offer the feet as a separate item unfortunately. Sorry, we could not be of assistance.

QUESTION: Can it be used for packing tape?
ANSWER: Yes, a standard 2 mil thick 110 yard long packing tape has an outside diameter under 4.5 mils and this dispenser from Excell can accept tape up to an outside diameter of 5 inches. Thank you.

QUESTION: Can this dispenser be used for blue painter tape?
ANSWER: The EX-17 can accept a roll with a maximum outside diameter of 5 inches. A roll like Shurtape CP-27 blue painters tape or 3M 2090 blue painters tape both have an outside diameter of around 4.75 inches so should be okay for that dispenser.

QUESTION: Does the blade have something that protects it while not in use? Does the cover operate automatically or manually?
ANSWER: It is a manual operation. You can fold down the yellow protector while you are using the dispenser and then fold it back-up when it is not in use.

We have 10 of these dispensers that we use in our volunteer center. The volunteers and staff like the weight of the unit which makes it more stable. Also Excell offers replacement blades and tape cores to allow longer service life of the dispenser.

I ship orders out daily and decided it was time to streamline the process. In order to do that I changed how I print my labels and got this bad boy. My packaging time went down by minutes. Get one, you will not be disappointed. Blade is sharper than I thought it would be which is great. And it cuts my heavy duty tape like butter. I keep the yellow guard up when not using it because its safer. The little suction cups are strong and it has yet to budge off my stainless steel table. Love love love this little beast of a tape dispenser.

Needs suction cup feet

Great dispenser but needs two hands for large rolls of tape because it's too narrow for suction cup feet. I bought the two inch dispenser instead. I made a 1 inch roller for it and dispense scotch tape. That works fine with one hand.

It's perfect what I wanted it for
hot melt rubber (synthetic)
Offers the widest range of application flexibility available. Exhibits excellent processing performance whether manually or automatically applied. Has superior tensile strength, adhesion properties and holding force which ensures consistent, reliable seals. Hot melt adhesive will bond faster to a surface which is referred to as quick-grab or quick-stick. It typically has higher tack (will feel stickier to the touch), but is also softer. It has lower heat resistance, shear resistance, and sometimes UV resistance than an acrylic adhesive. NOTE: it is called hot melt because the adhesive is applied hot by the manufacturer and then hardens as it cools (you do not need to apply heat to the tape yourself).
natural rubber
Properties are similar to that of hot melt rubber, but natural rubber often holds where other adhesives won't (recycled fibers, dust, cold, heat and heavy loads). It provides good overall adhesion and moisture resistance.
acrylic
Offer excellent performance, especially for applications in temperatures less than 40°F and greater then 120°F. It provides excellent clarity, has high shear strength, is usually more permanent/durable even when exposed to moisture, and it ages well over extended periods in fluorescent and sunlight. Since it remains clear for the life of the application and does not yellow over time it is ideal for applications such as sealing white cartons. While it has good initial adhesion it does take 24-48 hours to cure and to achieve its maximum bond strength (has gradual adhesion buildup). Another difference between hot melt rubber and acrylic adhesive is if you fold tape over making the two adhesive sides touch the acrylic adhesive will remain attached to the carrier (e.g. paper, film) while a hot melt adhesive will stick to itself and pull off of the carrier. It is the best choice for clarity, UV resistance and aging characteristics.
silicone
Is great for extreme temperature applications since silicone adhesive can work in continuous operating temperatures from -100°F to 500°F. They also exhibit good chemical resistance, retain electrical properties, and remove cleanly with little or no residue.
zinc oxide
Zinc oxide based adhesive formula is a skin-friendly adhesive which is commonly used on sports medicine tapes.
Thickness, AKA caliper or gauge, refers to the distance from one surface of a tape backing, or adhesive, to the other.
1 mil = 1/1000 of an inch
Examples: 1/16 inch = 62.5 mils; 1/32 inch = 31.25 mils
Lower gauge gloves are heavier - have thicker construction, fewer stiches knitted per inch and offer less dexterity.
Higher gauge gloves are lighter - have thinner/finer construction, more stitches knitted per inch and offer more dexterity.
Gloves offered typically runs from 7 to 18 (12 and 13 are in the middle of the scale).
