Product Description

Oralite V92 Daybright Colors Microprismatic Retroreflective Conspicuity Tape is prismatic conspicuity material available in a variety of colors including red, white, blue, green, orange and gold. Oralite is the Oracal Group's new brand name for Reflexite. The thin, flexible sheeting has a unique appearance featuring a printed triangular white line pattern. V92 Daybright Colors will enhance the visibility of any police, fire or EMS vehicle. It provides superior visibility and conspicuity to oncoming motorists which results in improved safety and image. UV and solvent resistant coatings ensure durability which allows for rugged outdoor use on the sides and rear of tow trucks, trailers, school buses, farm equipment, automobiles and all types of mobile and industrial equipment. Aggressive pressure-sensitive adhesive backing designed for rigid metal substrates. Tape is weather-resistant and has a 5-year warranty. Maintains reflectivity after impact. Conspicuity-grade material like this is typically 6 or 7 times more reflective than a comparable color in an engineering-grade reflective tape since prism technology is used instead of glass beads so you would be able to see it from much farther distances away. Photos of V92-DB are taken with a flash camera in order to show the reflectivity of the tape; the colors of the tape will be much darker if a high-intensity light source (like the flash from a camera or car headlights) are not being directed at the tape.

QUESTION: Is the non reflected white actually white?
ANSWER: The reflective elements are the grey triangles. Like all of these reflective materials, the triangles appear dull grey and ordinary in daylight, but they light up dramatically in the dark when they catch a beam of light like a headlight or a flashlight. I don't think you will be disappointed by this product.

QUESTION: Can I sew this onto clothing? And what does it look like in normal daylight?
ANSWER: No, you would want to use a sew-on reflective product such as Oralite GP-340. Thank you.

QUESTION: Will it show black on an aluminum sheet in daylight and white at night?
ANSWER: During daylight, the tape will look pretty much like the photo in the ad. The only time it will really appear bright, is when viewed in-line with the illumination source. This is a retro-reflector, which means it reflects the light back to the source of the light. Hence, the light from car headlights will be reflected back to the car, and be highly visible to the driver, who is nearly in line with the light source (headlights).

I got this tape in red and green to customize my driveway markers. I used the old "red right return" system in place for maritime use, where channels are marked with red on the right (and green on the left) when heading into harbor. Reflects well and looks good, day or night.

DAY GLOW TAPE
Oralite V92-DB-COLORS Microprismatic Conspicuity Tape
I bought the day glow lime yellow and the day glow blue. For use on my Vespa. I needed something which would be visual during the day as well as night time. The tape is excellent, and fits the bill perfectly. I rate it a A++
Made in the USA
hot melt rubber (synthetic)
Offers the widest range of application flexibility available. Exhibits excellent processing performance whether manually or automatically applied. Has superior tensile strength, adhesion properties and holding force which ensures consistent, reliable seals. Hot melt adhesive will bond faster to a surface which is referred to as quick-grab or quick-stick. It typically has higher tack (will feel stickier to the touch), but is also softer. It has lower heat resistance, shear resistance, and sometimes UV resistance than an acrylic adhesive. NOTE: it is called hot melt because the adhesive is applied hot by the manufacturer and then hardens as it cools (you do not need to apply heat to the tape yourself).
natural rubber
Properties are similar to that of hot melt rubber, but natural rubber often holds where other adhesives won't (recycled fibers, dust, cold, heat and heavy loads). It provides good overall adhesion and moisture resistance.
acrylic
Offer excellent performance, especially for applications in temperatures less than 40°F and greater then 120°F. It provides excellent clarity, has high shear strength, is usually more permanent/durable even when exposed to moisture, and it ages well over extended periods in fluorescent and sunlight. Since it remains clear for the life of the application and does not yellow over time it is ideal for applications such as sealing white cartons. While it has good initial adhesion it does take 24-48 hours to cure and to achieve its maximum bond strength (has gradual adhesion buildup). Another difference between hot melt rubber and acrylic adhesive is if you fold tape over making the two adhesive sides touch the acrylic adhesive will remain attached to the carrier (e.g. paper, film) while a hot melt adhesive will stick to itself and pull off of the carrier. It is the best choice for clarity, UV resistance and aging characteristics.

Is great for extreme temperature applications since silicone adhesive can work in continuous operating temperatures from -100°F to 500°F. They also exhibit good chemical resistance, retain electrical properties, and remove cleanly with little or no residue.
zinc oxide
Zinc oxide based adhesive formula is a skin-friendly adhesive which is commonly used on sports medicine tapes.
Thickness, AKA caliper or gauge, refers to the distance from one surface of a tape backing, or adhesive, to the other.
1 mil = 1/1000 of an inch
Examples: 1/16 inch = 62.5 mils; 1/32 inch = 31.25 mils
The cut level indicates how many grams of cutting load a glove can withstand from a sharp blade before being penetrated.
Lower gauge gloves are heavier - have thicker construction, fewer stiches knitted per inch and offer less dexterity.
Higher gauge gloves are lighter - have thinner/finer construction, more stitches knitted per inch and offer more dexterity.
Gloves offered typically runs from 7 to 18 (12 and 13 are in the middle of the scale).
