Product Description

Are you looking for strong, reliable leather furniture repair tape? JVCC REPAIR-2HD is a polyethylene-coated cloth duct tape that's been coated with an extremely strong adhesive. It's specially designed to be a highly effective vinyl and leather upholstery repair tape. It can be used for rips, tears, cover or patch concealment, arts & crafts projects, color coding, camping and many other uses.

At FindTape, we offer this leather and vinyl duct tape in 2-inch and 3-inch rolls (1.88 inches and 2.83 inches actual). The rolls are 15 feet (5 yards) long, which is a handy size so you have enough to do your repairs, but not more than you need.

The HD (Heavy Duty) designation means that it is rewound from Polyken 223 duct tape, providing 90 ounces per inch of peel adhesion. We recommend cutting the tape with a razor blade for a clean cut, although it can also be torn by hand. It's available in various colors to match your projects.

JVCC REPAIR-2HD is made from polyethylene-coated cloth duct tape, so it has a shinier finish than matte tape. If you want a matte appearance, see the JVCC REPAIR-1 tape, which is manufactured from vinyl-coated cloth gaffers tape. This tape is primarily used indoors but can be used outdoors over short time periods (the tape does not offer any type of UV-protection).

Product Applications

  • Tears, rips (sofa arms, car convertible tops, etc.)
  • Patch or cover concealment
  • Color coding
  • Arts & craft projects
  • Emergency kits
  • Camping (repair tents, tarps, backpacks)

* Please Read

Many seating surfaces have accumulated oils, detergents, polishes, and miscellaneous other surfactants that will prevent pressure sensitive adhesive tapes from forming a bond. Please try testing the surface with any available comparable adhesive tape (masking, duct, etc.) prior to purchasing this product to see if this could possibly work for you. If that other tape does not adhere you can try cleaning the substrate first with a damp cloth and then allowing to dry completely. If it still does not stick, then you might need one of the liquid seat repair products available on the market instead (these types of products would also be less noticeable than a tape repair).

Application Tips

Always use a razor to cut a piece off. Tearing by hand leaves a rougher edge which allows the edges to be more vulnerable to rolling up. Even scissors have a hard time cutting through it as cleanly as a razor blade since it is heavy duty polyethylene coated cloth coated with an aggressive adhesive.

A good way to prolong the life of the patch is to apply an adhesive primer such as 3M 94 although that typically discolors leather and vinyl surfaces so you really need to be careful when applying a primer or adhesive promoter to make sure you are only using it on the area of the surface that the tape will cover. Country of Origin: United States.

QUESTION: Will it fix a hole in chair can u notice it
ANSWER: JVCC REPAIR-2HD is made from Polyken 223 colored duct tape so it would most likely not blend in perfectly with the chair so it would be noticeable. You may want to look at one of the liquid seat repair products on the market instead for something less noticeable. Thank you.

Would have preferred that it was a darker brown, but works very well, and easily applied.

Easy repair
JVCC REPAIR-2HD Patch & Repair Tape for Leather and Vinyl surfaces [Duct Tape]
The tape is staying on the sofa where the leather is peeling. The color does not match as the brown is not dark enough. I purchased both the 2” and 3” and used them both. More color choices are needed.

Pretty close match.
JVCC REPAIR-2HD Patch & Repair Tape for Leather and Vinyl surfaces [Duct Tape]
Bought this take because our new cat made it her job to destroy a leather RV passenger seat. The tape was a pretty close match to the original leather color, you can’t see it unless you know to look for it. And it keeps her taped nicely to the RV wall. Just kidding, she’s fine.

Made in the USA
hot melt rubber (synthetic)
Offers the widest range of application flexibility available. Exhibits excellent processing performance whether manually or automatically applied. Has superior tensile strength, adhesion properties and holding force which ensures consistent, reliable seals. Hot melt adhesive will bond faster to a surface which is referred to as quick-grab or quick-stick. It typically has higher tack (will feel stickier to the touch), but is also softer. It has lower heat resistance, shear resistance, and sometimes UV resistance than an acrylic adhesive. NOTE: it is called hot melt because the adhesive is applied hot by the manufacturer and then hardens as it cools (you do not need to apply heat to the tape yourself).
natural rubber
Properties are similar to that of hot melt rubber, but natural rubber often holds where other adhesives won't (recycled fibers, dust, cold, heat and heavy loads). It provides good overall adhesion and moisture resistance.
acrylic
Offer excellent performance, especially for applications in temperatures less than 40°F and greater then 120°F. It provides excellent clarity, has high shear strength, is usually more permanent/durable even when exposed to moisture, and it ages well over extended periods in fluorescent and sunlight. Since it remains clear for the life of the application and does not yellow over time it is ideal for applications such as sealing white cartons. While it has good initial adhesion it does take 24-48 hours to cure and to achieve its maximum bond strength (has gradual adhesion buildup). Another difference between hot melt rubber and acrylic adhesive is if you fold tape over making the two adhesive sides touch the acrylic adhesive will remain attached to the carrier (e.g. paper, film) while a hot melt adhesive will stick to itself and pull off of the carrier. It is the best choice for clarity, UV resistance and aging characteristics.
silicone
Is great for extreme temperature applications since silicone adhesive can work in continuous operating temperatures from -100°F to 500°F. They also exhibit good chemical resistance, retain electrical properties, and remove cleanly with little or no residue.
zinc oxide
Zinc oxide based adhesive formula is a skin-friendly adhesive which is commonly used on sports medicine tapes.
Thickness, AKA caliper or gauge, refers to the distance from one surface of a tape backing, or adhesive, to the other.
1 mil = 1/1000 of an inch
Examples: 1/16 inch = 62.5 mils; 1/32 inch = 31.25 mils
The cut level indicates how many grams of cutting load a glove can withstand from a sharp blade before being penetrated.
Lower gauge gloves are heavier - have thicker construction, fewer stiches knitted per inch and offer less dexterity.
Higher gauge gloves are lighter - have thinner/finer construction, more stitches knitted per inch and offer more dexterity.
Gloves offered typically runs from 7 to 18 (12 and 13 are in the middle of the scale).
