Product Description

Swingline S.F. 1 Standard Staples are the everyday workhorse staple for desktop staplers. A sharp chisel point on each leg pierces paper cleanly instead of punching through it, which keeps strips feeding straight and reduces the bent and half-driven staples that cause jams. Swingline runs this line through a seven-point quality check and reports up to fifteen percent fewer misforms than other standard staples.

The 1/4" leg fastens up to 20 sheets, and the 1/2" crown is the standard width for full-strip desktop staplers. Each strip holds 210 staples, a full magazine load. This item ships as a 3-pack of 5,000-count boxes, 15,000 staples total.

Which Swingline Staple Do I Need?

Staple series are not interchangeable. Standard staples will misfeed in a heavy duty magazine, and heavy duty staples will not fit a standard stapler at all.

  • S.F. 1 Standard (351XX), on this page: The everyday standard staple. 1/4" leg, 1/2" crown, 210 per strip, up to 20 sheets.
  • S.F. 4 Premium (354XX): Same 1/4" leg and 210-count strip, built to a tighter tolerance. Swingline reports seventy-five percent fewer misforms rather than fifteen. Worth the step up for shared staplers that run all day or for jam-sensitive work.
  • S.F. 39 (793XX): Heavy duty, 5,000 per box, in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" legs for stacks up to 90 sheets.
  • S.F. 13 Premium (353XX): Heavy duty, 1,000 per box, in 1/2", 3/4", and 15/16" legs for stacks up to 210 sheets.

Compatible Staplers

Fits standard full-strip desktop staplers, including the Swingline 747 Classic and 747 Business, the Commercial Desk Stapler, and most other full size models. Not for use in heavy duty staplers, mini staplers, or cartridge-fed electric staplers.

Typical Applications

  • Everyday desk and reception stapling
  • Classroom handouts, worksheets, and student packets
  • Invoices, expense reports, and routine filing
  • Shared department and copy room staplers

Instructions

Loading a Strip

  1. Open the stapler magazine. On most standard models the top cover lifts or the magazine slides forward once the release at the rear is pressed.
  2. Drop a full strip of 210 staples into the channel with the legs pointing down.
  3. Close the magazine until it latches. Do not force it, since a strip seated crooked will bind.
  4. Test on scrap paper before running a batch.

Stapling

  1. Square the stack so all edges are even, and keep it at 20 sheets or fewer.
  2. Slide the stack fully into the throat until it stops against the back of the opening.
  3. Press the handle down with one firm, complete stroke until the staple clinches flat.
  4. Let the handle return fully before removing the stack.

If Staples Are Jamming or Not Clinching

  1. Confirm the stack is within 20 sheets. Overloading is the most common cause of legs that fold over instead of curling under.
  2. Confirm you are using standard staples. Heavy duty staples will not fit a standard magazine.
  3. Open the magazine and remove any bent or partial staples from the channel and the strike plate.
  4. Reload with a fresh strip if the leading staples are deformed.

Storage

  1. Keep boxes closed and dry. Moisture promotes surface rust and can cause strips to separate.
  2. Store strips flat so the collating adhesive is not stressed.
* Multiple cases may be shipped per package in order to minimize the charge for shipping.

Question & Answers

User Reviews

Made in the USA
hot melt rubber (synthetic)
Offers the widest range of application flexibility available. Exhibits excellent processing performance whether manually or automatically applied. Has superior tensile strength, adhesion properties and holding force which ensures consistent, reliable seals. Hot melt adhesive will bond faster to a surface which is referred to as quick-grab or quick-stick. It typically has higher tack (will feel stickier to the touch), but is also softer. It has lower heat resistance, shear resistance, and sometimes UV resistance than an acrylic adhesive. NOTE: it is called hot melt because the adhesive is applied hot by the manufacturer and then hardens as it cools (you do not need to apply heat to the tape yourself).
natural rubber
Properties are similar to that of hot melt rubber, but natural rubber often holds where other adhesives won't (recycled fibers, dust, cold, heat and heavy loads). It provides good overall adhesion and moisture resistance.
acrylic
Offer excellent performance, especially for applications in temperatures less than 40°F and greater then 120°F. It provides excellent clarity, has high shear strength, is usually more permanent/durable even when exposed to moisture, and it ages well over extended periods in fluorescent and sunlight. Since it remains clear for the life of the application and does not yellow over time it is ideal for applications such as sealing white cartons. While it has good initial adhesion it does take 24-48 hours to cure and to achieve its maximum bond strength (has gradual adhesion buildup). Another difference between hot melt rubber and acrylic adhesive is if you fold tape over making the two adhesive sides touch the acrylic adhesive will remain attached to the carrier (e.g. paper, film) while a hot melt adhesive will stick to itself and pull off of the carrier. It is the best choice for clarity, UV resistance and aging characteristics.
silicone
Is great for extreme temperature applications since silicone adhesive can work in continuous operating temperatures from -100°F to 500°F. They also exhibit good chemical resistance, retain electrical properties, and remove cleanly with little or no residue.
zinc oxide
Zinc oxide based adhesive formula is a skin-friendly adhesive which is commonly used on sports medicine tapes.
Thickness, AKA caliper or gauge, refers to the distance from one surface of a tape backing, or adhesive, to the other.
1 mil = 1/1000 of an inch
Examples: 1/16 inch = 62.5 mils; 1/32 inch = 31.25 mils
The cut level indicates how many grams of cutting load a glove can withstand from a sharp blade before being penetrated.
Lower gauge gloves are heavier - have thicker construction, fewer stiches knitted per inch and offer less dexterity.
Higher gauge gloves are lighter - have thinner/finer construction, more stitches knitted per inch and offer more dexterity.
Gloves offered typically runs from 7 to 18 (12 and 13 are in the middle of the scale).
