Product Description
Oralite V98 Microprismatic Retroreflective Conspicuity Tape is prismatic conspicuity material available in a variety of fluorescent neon colors which include lime yellow, orange and yellow. Oralite is the Oracal Group's new brand name for Reflexite. The thin, flexible sheeting has a unique appearance featuring a printed triangular white line pattern. V98 will enhance the visibility of any police, fire or EMS vehicle. It provides superior visibility and conspicuity to oncoming motorists which results in improved safety and image. UV and solvent resistant coatings ensure durability which allows for rugged outdoor use on the sides and rear of tow trucks, trailers, school buses, farm equipment, automobiles and all types of mobile and industrial equipment (designed to adhere to high surface energy substrates such as metal and glass). Aggressive pressure-sensitive adhesive backing designed for rigid metal substrates. Tape is weather-resistant and has a 5-year warranty. Maintains reflectivity after impact. Conspicuity-grade material like this is typically 6 or 7 times more reflective than a comparable color in an engineering-grade reflective tape since prism technology is used instead of glass beads so you would be able to see it from much farther distances away.

QUESTION: I am applying tape to clear acrylic so you can see back of tape. Is the back of tape, sticky side silver in color? Very important. Thank you.

Great stuff, some sticking issues
Oralite V98 Microprismatic Conspicuity Tape [Fluorescent Colors]
I got this stuff for making my bikes and bike gear more visible. I'm a big believer in not getting run over, and although box jockeys can still kill you when they see you, they kill ya more when they can't see you. This stick-on tape seems like the right stuff. The v98 is thinner/more flexible and can be peeled back up and placed within a minute or so, so you can get the lines right on your gear. I used it on bike fenders to start with. The 1" stuck really well and didn't move. It's really visible by day and super visible at night via reflection. (Get the lime green/yellow if you're looking for fluorescent yellow. The other yellow seems to be the more orangy yellow of road signs.) The 2" hasn't stuck as well on my fenders, has baconed up at the edges. This is likely because the smaller radius there means there's more tape being sort of squished down to cover less area. In the future, for a multi-curved surface like this, I'll try snipping out little relief darts. That will be easy since the tape's got little triangular pattern in it, so the look will remain tidy. I prepped the surfaces carefully, degreasing then finishin with alcohol wipe or window cleaner to get it super clean before putting the tape down. I expect it'll last a long time.
hot melt rubber (synthetic)
Offers the widest range of application flexibility available. Exhibits excellent processing performance whether manually or automatically applied. Has superior tensile strength, adhesion properties and holding force which ensures consistent, reliable seals. Hot melt adhesive will bond faster to a surface which is referred to as quick-grab or quick-stick. It typically has higher tack (will feel stickier to the touch), but is also softer. It has lower heat resistance, shear resistance, and sometimes UV resistance than an acrylic adhesive. NOTE: it is called hot melt because the adhesive is applied hot by the manufacturer and then hardens as it cools (you do not need to apply heat to the tape yourself).
natural rubber
Properties are similar to that of hot melt rubber, but natural rubber often holds where other adhesives won't (recycled fibers, dust, cold, heat and heavy loads). It provides good overall adhesion and moisture resistance.
acrylic
Offer excellent performance, especially for applications in temperatures less than 40°F and greater then 120°F. It provides excellent clarity, has high shear strength, is usually more permanent/durable even when exposed to moisture, and it ages well over extended periods in fluorescent and sunlight. Since it remains clear for the life of the application and does not yellow over time it is ideal for applications such as sealing white cartons. While it has good initial adhesion it does take 24-48 hours to cure and to achieve its maximum bond strength (has gradual adhesion buildup). Another difference between hot melt rubber and acrylic adhesive is if you fold tape over making the two adhesive sides touch the acrylic adhesive will remain attached to the carrier (e.g. paper, film) while a hot melt adhesive will stick to itself and pull off of the carrier. It is the best choice for clarity, UV resistance and aging characteristics.
silicone
Is great for extreme temperature applications since silicone adhesive can work in continuous operating temperatures from -100°F to 500°F. They also exhibit good chemical resistance, retain electrical properties, and remove cleanly with little or no residue.
zinc oxide
Zinc oxide based adhesive formula is a skin-friendly adhesive which is commonly used on sports medicine tapes.
Thickness, AKA caliper or gauge, refers to the distance from one surface of a tape backing, or adhesive, to the other.
1 mil = 1/1000 of an inch
Examples: 1/16 inch = 62.5 mils; 1/32 inch = 31.25 mils
Lower gauge gloves are heavier - have thicker construction, fewer stiches knitted per inch and offer less dexterity.
Higher gauge gloves are lighter - have thinner/finer construction, more stitches knitted per inch and offer more dexterity.
Gloves offered typically runs from 7 to 18 (12 and 13 are in the middle of the scale).
