Since the foam side is going down on top of your flooring (the adhesive side bonds to the rug or mat) it will not leave an adhesive residue behind like some double-sided tapes would. Hold-It For Rugs® Installation Directions: The floor surface must be clean and dry. Measure and cut 'Hold-It For Rugs' to fit the outline of the rug or mat being held in place. Remove the release liner from the foam and apply the exposed liner side to the rug or mat. Press rug down firmly in place.

The pressure sensitive acrylic composition has very good tack; has excellent adhesion to a variety of surfaces; and has high shear strength performance. Tape is carried on a red, release coated polyethylene liner that is easily removed. Has good UV resistance. Tape will bond to most surfaces including many plastics, composites, sealed woods and metals; however thorough evaluation is recommended when bonding to low energy surface material such as Polyethylene, Polypropylene, silicones and Teflon. For lower energy surfaces may need to use an adhesive promoter/primer such as IPA (isopropanol) on the substrate prior to application. When applying the tape after removing the release liner be careful not to contaminate the acrylic adhesive and try to immediately bond the tape to the surface without entrapping air between the tape and the surface it is being applied to. At a minimum application pressure should be 15 pounds per inch of tape width in order to achieve maximum bond strength. The dwell time the tape needs to be in contact with both surfaces, before it reaches it maximum adhesion, is 1 to 24 hours. Image does not show a full 27 yard roll.

    • 3M Scotch 4611 VHB Tape (45 mil / general purpose)

3M 4611 VHB Tape is typically used on metal substrates, and has the added feature of high temperature resistance, making it often suitable for bonding prior to high temperature paint processing. 3M 4611 is coated with a general purpose adhesive on both sides of firm foam. Please note as stated in 3M's data sheet for this product it ships on a plain red film release liner (not a printed 3M liner like other 3M VHB tapes). 3M VHB Tape provides the convenience and simplicity of a tape fastener and are ideal for use in many interior and exterior structural bonding applications. In many situations, they can replace rivets, spot welds, liquid adhesives and other permanent fasteners. These VHB tapes are made with acrylic foam which is viscoelastic in nature. This gives the foam energy absorbing and stress relaxing properties which provides these tapes with their unique characteristics (see http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Adhesives/Tapes/Brands/3M-VHB-Tape/ for videos showcasing its properties). The acrylic chemistry provides outstanding durability performance. The tapes have excellent durability and excellent solvent and moisture resistance.
