Product Description

Jaybird & Mais 30/31 Adhesive Foam is a foam substrate combined with a natural rubber adhesive on a release paper liner. The product is 100% latex-free - both the foam substrate and the adhesive coating does not contain any Dry Natural Rubber (DNR) which means there is no latex in the product. The foam is used to make custom padding for areas of the body; especially over lacerations, bumps, and bruises. The foam can also be used in conjunction with taping applications for added protection and abrasion comfort. Additional uses for the Jaybird & Mais 30/31 Adhesive Foam include padding for prosthetic devices. Non-sterile, for external use only. Made in the USA. Available in both 1/8" (Jaybird 30) and 1/4" (Jaybird 31) thicknesses.

This product is non-sterile and is not intended to be used for specialized post-surgery applications. Please check with your medical professional prior to using in any other medical application other than it’s intended use. Made in the U.S.

Nominal Tape Widths vs Actual Widths

Nominal vs. Actual Widths Zoom In

Tape rolls are cut to standard tape industry metric widths of approx. 24mm per 1-inch of nominal width ordered. As a result ACTUAL tape widths are normally 5% narrower than the NOMINAL width shown in inches. Examples:

  • 1" Nominal width = 15/16" (24mm) Actual width
  • 2" Nominal width = 1-7/8" (48mm) Actual width
  • 3" Nominal width = 2-13/16" (72mm) Actual width

Note that tape rolls are NOT guaranteed to be splice-free.

QUESTION: Is the adhesive too strong for delicate older skin? How long can it be safely left on the skin? I'm looking for padding my bedridden 103 year-old mom's back to prevent sores where spine presses bed surface.
ANSWER: Jaybird 30/31 foam is designed to have the non-adhesive foam side pressed up against your skin (typically the adhesive side is applied to the substrate/device that was going to come into contact with your skin; e.g. clothing, bed sheets, etc.). Thank you.

ANSWER: My spouse used this adhesive in the heel area inside his shoe as padding and to help with slippage. He didn't have any issues all through his golf season.

1st time use
Jaybird & Mais 30/31 Adhesive-Backed SBR Foam [Single-Sided, Open Cell]
When I ordered online the website was a bit frustrating. The foam I bought is being used for my feet pain. I was hoping it was more of a padding but it's a foam type padding. It is a good price for the amount you get. Overall I'm happy with it.

Create your own custom orthotics
Jaybird & Mais 30/31 Adhesive-Backed SBR Foam [Single-Sided, Open Cell]
I add layers of the foam tape to areas of my feet that need support, cushioning and "reshaping" for the long hikes I take on a near daily basis. I always cover the foam tapes with mole skin to keep it in place and give it a smoother covering. I have pretty severe arthritis in both feet and this tape has been a lifesaver for me. Regular and custom foot orthotics never work well for me alone. This can get costly but for me the benefits outweigh anything else. This would be great for runners and hikers, but best covered with the Jaybird moleskin also sold in rolls.

This foam tape rocks.
Jaybird & Mais 30/31 Adhesive-Backed SBR Foam [Single-Sided, Open Cell]
I use this combined with moleskin tapes from findtape to create "custom" foot orthotics. I've got it down to a science now, cut, snip, stick, and I can hike in the woods for hours longer than with my custom orthotics alone. With severe arthritis in my feet, this has become a life saver...a bit of effort, but worth the time it takes. The tape sticks really well and can also protect from rubbing and blistering, as well as padding an already sensitive area.I have been buying rolls of tape from Find Tape for two years [...]

Made in the USA
hot melt rubber (synthetic)
Offers the widest range of application flexibility available. Exhibits excellent processing performance whether manually or automatically applied. Has superior tensile strength, adhesion properties and holding force which ensures consistent, reliable seals. Hot melt adhesive will bond faster to a surface which is referred to as quick-grab or quick-stick. It typically has higher tack (will feel stickier to the touch), but is also softer. It has lower heat resistance, shear resistance, and sometimes UV resistance than an acrylic adhesive. NOTE: it is called hot melt because the adhesive is applied hot by the manufacturer and then hardens as it cools (you do not need to apply heat to the tape yourself).
natural rubber
Properties are similar to that of hot melt rubber, but natural rubber often holds where other adhesives won't (recycled fibers, dust, cold, heat and heavy loads). It provides good overall adhesion and moisture resistance.
acrylic
Offer excellent performance, especially for applications in temperatures less than 40°F and greater then 120°F. It provides excellent clarity, has high shear strength, is usually more permanent/durable even when exposed to moisture, and it ages well over extended periods in fluorescent and sunlight. Since it remains clear for the life of the application and does not yellow over time it is ideal for applications such as sealing white cartons. While it has good initial adhesion it does take 24-48 hours to cure and to achieve its maximum bond strength (has gradual adhesion buildup). Another difference between hot melt rubber and acrylic adhesive is if you fold tape over making the two adhesive sides touch the acrylic adhesive will remain attached to the carrier (e.g. paper, film) while a hot melt adhesive will stick to itself and pull off of the carrier. It is the best choice for clarity, UV resistance and aging characteristics.
silicone
Is great for extreme temperature applications since silicone adhesive can work in continuous operating temperatures from -100°F to 500°F. They also exhibit good chemical resistance, retain electrical properties, and remove cleanly with little or no residue.
zinc oxide
Zinc oxide based adhesive formula is a skin-friendly adhesive which is commonly used on sports medicine tapes.
Thickness, AKA caliper or gauge, refers to the distance from one surface of a tape backing, or adhesive, to the other.
